Exploring the Benefits of Colour Drenching in Interior Design

Colour drenching, a captivating trend in interior design, involves immersing an entire room in a single hue, creating a monochromatic fantasy across all surfaces. From walls and ceilings to objects and installations like window treatments and light fixtures, every element receives the same colour treatment, resulting in a visually striking space.

But what are the benefits of colour drenching?

One of the most notable advantages is the ability to make rooms appear larger. By painting walls, mouldings, ceilings, skirtings, doors, and door frames in the same colour, the room immediately feels calmer and tidier and larger. This effect is amplified in small rooms, where the illusion of height can be created, especially if the ceilings are painted in the same colour, particularly if they are high.

When selecting a colour for colour drenching, personal preferences play a significant role. However, it's essential to consider the desired outcome. Dark hues like navy blue, deep Bordeaux, or rich forest green can create an elegant and intimate atmosphere but may not be ideal for making a room appear larger. Above we used a dark purple brown on the walls and complimented this with a dark brown velvet sofa.

Below we turned quite a non descript room into something dramatic by painting the walls, furniture in one colour and matching that colour on the headboard and blind.
